Aesthetic and Functional Minimalism | Flat UI - Carrot Mobile Application

The Carrot mobile app is a cognitive load relief assistant to aid shoppers with buying groceries.

The homepage sorts foods into 5 distinct meal based categories. 

 

From here users can access the categories and browse the lists and select the foods they want to add to their grocery list. 

Carrot incorporates Flat UI color and design for a calming experience.

It is the goal of the app to help users think of which items they need from the store by reducing the effort from the users end as much as possible.

A particular amount of grocery shopping occurs at the end of the work day so the colors are calming to help transition the user from office/work mode.

Minimalism is incorporated not only aesthetically but in activation and navigation. 

After the splash screen the create account screen requires only a username and password to get started. 

After instantiation the app is only 6 pages of core functionality and a hamburger overlay menu. 

With a single back button returning users to the five category homepage.
